PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A big change is in store for the Big 5. Phil Martelli out as head coach at Saint Joseph's University.

He had led the Hawks for 24 seasons, winning 444 games.

He took Saint Joseph's to a No. 1 seed in the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament back in 2004. The last three seasons, the Hawks missed the post-season and dealt with a lot of injuries.

Saint Joseph's went 14 and 18 this past season, and the athletic administration has decided it's time for a change.

(1/4) Following a comprehensive evaluation of the @SJUHawks_MBB program, @SaintJosephs will make a leadership change and immediately start the search for a new head coach.
