More COVID-19 testing to come after 2-day site closes Friday, say Delco officials

PHILADEPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A new drive-thru testing site opened up this week in Delaware County, but those who want to get tested there don’t have much time. The testing wraps up at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The two-day testing site is located in the parking lot of Upper Darby High School on Landsdowne Avenue.

Dr. Monica Taylor, vice chair of Delaware County Council, says it’s open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. No registration or pre-authorization is required.

“What we’re trying to do is do mobile testing around the county, and so this week we’re in Upper Darby,” she said. “And then we’ll follow where the health department suggests that we should go, whether it’s a hotspot or whether it’s just an area that we need more testing in.”

She says there will be more sites in the future, but for now they’re prepared to test how ever many people come.
