PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The nonprofit that turned Philly into the city of murals is now trying to make social distancing easier in grocery stores.

You’ve seen the lines. There’s awkward space in between you and the person in front of or behind you because everyone is trying to keep that six feet of distance. Jane Golden, executive director of Mural Arts Philadelphia, said they've figured out a way to make that easier.

She added it was also a way to get money into the pockets of artists who may be currently struggling, and it creates a moment of beauty during these challenging times.

The space pads are already in a South Philadelphia ShopRite, but Golden said in addition to grocery stores, they hope to be able to put them in other congregated places such as food distribution centers.
