Online program lets kids learn about character from veterans

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Social distancing certainly is a test of character, and The Travis Manion Foundation has launched an online version of its Character Does Matter program during the coronavirus pandemic.

Each weekday afternoon at 1:00, a Travis Manion Foundation Veteran Mentor is hosting an interactive Facebook Live session with each session focusing on a different character trait.

During the sessions, veterans talk about a character trait and work through activities that define that trait. Afterwards, they will interact with the audience and answer questions that are posted in the comment section.

The lessons also help veterans feel connected as they answer questions and share personal stories. The content is geared toward elementary and middle school students, but parents are encouraged to join in.

The Travis Manion Foundation is a partner's of Entercom, KYW Newsradio's parent company.
