PSPCA rescues 43 birds involved in alleged cockfighting ring in Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Pennsylvania SPCA is asking for the public's help in the investigation of an animal cruelty case.

The PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement Team removed 43 birds form adjoining properties along Weymouth Street near Clearfield Avenue in Kensington Tuesday. 

Officials say the birds may have been involved in cockfighting.  

Animal fighting in the state of Pennsylvania carries a felony charge.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Cruelty Hotline at 866-601-SPCA. Tips can be left anonymously.
