Motorists should expect some delays for the next one to four weeks because of the new traffic patterns.
Joe Donnelly, deputy executive director of communications for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, said northbound Route 29 at the I-295 interchange will be closed — in some parts intermittently.
“This is a lane that circumvents these ramps and roundabouts, which allows northbound traffic essentially from Trenton to get around the interchange and then continue on 29 northbound,” he explained.
“We don't expect it right now to be that onerous, however, what looks good on paper can sometimes be different in actual execution,” he admitted.
Connelly anticipates the most delays during the evening drive time, between about 3 and 7 p.m.
The work is expected to wrap up by Feb. 16.
