PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The son of a high-ranking Philly cop is laid to rest Thursday in Montgomery County. The man who is charged with his murder is in police custody.

U.S. Marshals and Chester police worked together to take 19-year-old Tyquan Atkinson into custody at the Upland Shopping Center in Chester around 6 p.m. Authorities say Atkinson led officers on a brief foot chase, but he was arrested on the roof of one of the stores in the shopping center on Upland Avenue.

He was araigned early Thursday morning on six charges, including murder and firearms offenses.

Nicholas Flacco, 20, the son of Internal Affairs Chief Inspector Chris Flacco, was tailgating with friends at FDR Park after the Phillies game on saturday when, Homicide Capt. Jason Smith says, two groups with a history of problems got into a fight.

"Two different camps, if you will. These are mainly juveniles and young adults in their early 20s. They have had encounters before in the past is my understanding. One group is from Northeast Philadelphia, and the other is from South Philadelphia," Smith said.

Smith says a woman in one of the groups called on Atkinson to come to the park. When he arrived, he allegedly fired a few shots over the span of 20 minutes, one of them directly into Flacco, killing him.

Authorities say Atkinson is being held without bail.
