EVENT: Jamaica's 57th Independence Celebration Bob Marley Tribute 2019

DATE/TIME: Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: LOVE Park, 1599 JFK Blvd., Philadelphia

DETAILS: Enjoy a taste of Jamaica in Philadelphia, with 300 vendors showcasing culture, food and drinks. There will be contests for singing and dancing, bun-eating, Jamaica Hot Patty-eating, beer-drinking, tug of war, and more. Some include cash prizes.



EVENT: Bug Fest

DATE/TIME: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia  

DETAILS: Creepy, crawly, sticky, prickly, wiggly, yucky. And kinda cute — at least that's what we think about bugs at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Enjoy new activities and shows, plus revisit some old favorites back by popular demand. Talk with real scientists, learn about insects from all over the world, and see specimens from the academy’s behind-the-scenes collections. Eat bugs, get your face painted, and relax as you enjoy a buggy show.

PRICE: Prices vary among exhibits. General admission is $20 for adults; $17 for students, seniors and military; $16 for children


EVENT: Black Label ComiCon

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 10 a.m.

WHERE: Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City-Convention Center, 1301 Race St.

DETAILS: Black Label ComiCon will be the first of its kind on the East Coast. It is a comic-con that will feature only intellectual properties of producers in the comic book, fantasy, and sci-fi industry. It will also embrace the history and the meaning of black Wall Street. No other comic-con has ever made such an event centered around this era of black-owned business during the early 1920s in American history. There will also be a costume contest, informative discussion panels during the event, and a photo shoot area.

EVENT: Peach Festival

DATE/TIME: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Peddler’s Village, 2400 Street Road, New Hope 

DETAILS: It’s a peach and shopping lover’s paradise all weekend with plenty of peachy treats, sizzling shopping deals and family fun. Savor the flavors of all things peach from savory to sweet at outdoor carts and inside the restaurants and shops of Peddler’s Village.

EVENT: Restaurant Week: A Taste of Chestnut Hill

DATE/TIME: Aug. 11 through 16

WHERE: Various restaurants in Chestnut Hill

DETAILS: Restaurant Week: A Taste of Chestnut Hill features priced specials from the following restaurants: McNally's Tavern Chestnut Hill, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Cafe, El Poquito, Paris Bistro, Baker Street Bread Co, Campbell's, Cosimo's Pizza Chestnut Hill, Jansen Mt. DATE/TIME: Saturday, 2 to 10 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at Rittenhouse Square

DETAILS: A Whole New World is coming to Rittenhouse Square, where you can become your favorite Disney character and enjoy discounted themed potions during one enchanted bar crawl.

EVENT: Smooth Jazz Summer Nights: Vivian Green

DATE/TIME: Friday, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

WHERE: Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Blvd.

DETAILS: With a voice that is timeless and complex, chart-topping vocalist Vivian Green is bringing her vibrant musicality and delicate ballads to Smooth Jazz Summer Nights at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing.



EVENT: Peach, Princess & Pirate Celebration

DATE/TIME: Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Camden Children’s Garden, 3 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey

DETAILS: Join the party for New Jersey’s favorite summer fruit with crafts and a treasure hunt. Children are encouraged to dress in their favorite princess or pirate costume to receive $1 off admission. Walk the plank and make a princess wand.

PRICE: $9 for general admission; $6 for residents; kids get a $1 off with costume
