To put it in sports terms, Timothy McLaughlin is a “home-grown” player. He broke into radio as an intern with KYW Newsradio during his junior year at Arcadia University, in Glenside, PA. He was quickly hired as a desk assistant and service aide, positions he held through the remainder of his college years. Today, McLaughlin is an editor and morning drive writer for KYW Newsradio.
During college, McLaughlin served for two years as managing editor for Arcadia’s student newspaper, The Tower. He also interned in the news department at the Philadelphia CityPaper.
An avid distance runner, McLaughlin’s first competitive race was the 2010 Philadelphia Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon. He has since completed five full marathons. McLaughlin says he has performance in his blood; he grew up playing percussion (drums, piano, and his favorite, vibraphone), and he was the captain of Archbishop Wood High School drumline. He calls his Eagle Scout award his biggest accomplishment. He still enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, and trail running, and tries to live by the motto, “Be prepared.”
