PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The Philadelphia 76ers announced a program intended to help support and elevate Black-owned businesses in the Philadelphia region.

The Buy Black Program was created to help Black-owned small businesses connect with resources that they may not have had equal access to in the past, because of practices like lending discrimination and segregation, according to David Gould, 76ers chief diversity and impact officer.

Through Feb. 2, Black-owned businesses in the Philadelphia region can apply to become partners in the program, making them eligible for various support opportunities, as well as referrals for grant opportunities and assistance with Payroll Protection Program loans.
