TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities on Friday charged a man and a woman in the fatal shooting of a New Jersey teen and his 8-year-old brother, who were gunned down following an earlier dispute.

Police arrested Destanie Ellis, 29, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, on Thursday and took Dajuan Kelley, 26, of Ewing into custody on Friday in Hampton, Georgia.

Authorities alleged Ellis conspired with Kelley, who they said ultimately shot and killed 16-year-old Gustavo and 8-year-old Johnny Perez in Trenton on Tuesday night.

Surveillance video showed Ellis and Kelley were sitting in an SUV when the brothers walked past and attempted to gain entry to the vehicle, authorities said. A verbal dispute ensued.

Ellis followed the boys and contacted Kelley and others, according to invesitgators, who said Kelley opened fire on the brothers as they stood in the window of their family's second floor kitchen. They died at a hospital.

Kelley and Eillis were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder. They also faced weapon and conspiracy charges.

The Mercer County prosecutor's office filed motions to detain both defendants. It could not be determined if they had retained lawyers.
