PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 9-year-old girl is dead after being fatally shot inside a home in North Philadelphia Wednesday morning. Now, investigators are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.
Police were called to the home along Bouvier street, near 23rd and Dauphin streets, around 11 a.m.
“They were met by a child inside the home that said that one of the other children inside that location was shot,” said Cpl. Jasmine Reilly.
Reilly said the girl was shot in the head, and the kids were home alone at the time.
The 9-year-old was taken first to Temple University Hospital, and then to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children where she died.
Reilly said there were several weapons inside the home and officers are investigating which, if any, were legally owned.
No one has been arrested.
Temple Health is still offering free gun locks to anyone who needs one, no questions asked. They will mail the lock straight to the home or people can pick one up. For more information, click here.
