PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Prevention is the best weapon in fighting COVID-19, but how are we doing in helping people if they get the virus?

The bad news is we do not have a simple cure, but we have learned a great deal and are saving lives.

For those who start to go downhill rapidly after exposure to the virus, we have seen that antibody infusions can help, as well as drugs like remdesivir and steroid medications.

We have also learned about the best use of ventilators and treatments like ECMO, and physicians can monitor blood studies and much more reliably predict who is worsening or improving and get treatment going.

Remember: our best weapon is prevention.
