MOORESTOWN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The food insecure in one Burlington County community are having a delicious meal this Thanksgiving thanks to the success of an annual food drive.

In Moorestown, residents donated 403 turkeys and 387 pies to those in need.

"It's an amazing feeling especially for this year, how many people and donations that were piling up at the back of the Community House was just unbelievable,” said Moorestown Home and School Association's Renita Brady.

Residents dropped off the food Monday and within four hours, donations  poured in.

Meals went to a faith-based affordable housing community and the Twin Oaks County Service Agency. There was so much food, Brady said, the rest went to several food pantries in need.

"We’re really truly overwhelmed with emotion in regards to the generosity of the community,” she said.
