PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The holiday season is always a critical time for small businesses, but especially so during the pandemic. So on this Black Friday, Philadelphians are being urged to show support by shopping locally, and there's a small but powerful incentive for doing just that.

"What we hope is that people will be really, really proud they shopped Philadelphia,” said Visit Philadelphia CEO Jeff Guaracino.

He said it's easy to show off that pride, thanks to the "I Shopped Philly" stickers they've delivered to hundreds of stores to hand out with each sale.

"Like the 'I Voted' sticker, where they can proudly say, ‘I spent my money in Philadelphia because I care about entrepreneurs. I care about Black and Brown businesses,’” Guaracino explained.

Guaracino encourages everyone to think of of as your Google or Amazon for local stores, stocking unique items you might not find on those sites.

"You're going to make a giant difference in Philadelphia's economic recovery,” he added.
