5@5: Where does Cubs' 9-8 defeat to Padres rank in a season of bad losses?

Wednesday, September 11th

Mike Mulligan and David Haugh conducted the daily 5 at 5 segment, which began with a discussion about where the Cubs' 9-8 setback to the Padres in 10 innings on Tuesday ranks among their toughest losses of the season. The guys then discussed how big of a priority right fielder Nicholas Castellanos should be for the Cubs when he hits free agency at the end of the season before discussing whether rookie Nico Hoerner should start ahead of Addison Russell at shortstop when Russell returns from the concussion protocol. The morning crew also discussed whether the Brewers' postseason push is over after star outfielder Christian Yelich's season-ending knee injury. Later, the guys discussed whether Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack had a bad game in a season-opening loss to the Packers, as he had no sacks. (9/11/19)
