It Looks Like MLB Is Coming Back!

By MIX 105.1

Is Major League Baseball officially coming back. Well, I like our chances, but it's still a little complicated.

The owners and the players were not able to come to a new agreement for a shortened season, so the owners voted to proceed based on an agreement between the league and the Players Association from back in March. I know, confusing already.

What it sounds like is the owners are forcing the players back onto the field and they're doing a simple, shortened season with the players getting a prorated salary.

The owners want the players to report to Spring Training 2.0 by July 1st and then the season would begin in late July.  There will be about 60 games, which means the players would earn about a third of their salaries, assuming the shortened schedule is completed and not cut short by a stoppage.

The only way the season won't happen is if the players strike or if the coronavirus ramps up again.

You can read more about the specifics and if you want more in-depth details, ESPN and Sports Illustrated both have good info.
