Serving up more than just a happy meal, J Balvin and McDonald’s debuted the official merch collaboration inspired by his J Balvin Meal with the fast food giant.
Besides the obvious clothing options of shirts and sweats, the collab, available on J Balvin’s official website also includes sunglasses, slippers, temporary tats and bucket hats, and the list goes on and on. And pretty much every piece of colorful merch is repping the electric Energia album smiley face alongside those famous MickeyD’s golden arches.
The merch drop comes a little over a week after McDonald's launched The J Balvin Meal, which is available at participating restaurants through November 1. The meal features all of J's favorites, a Big Mac, fries with ketchup, and an Oreo McFlurry. Don't know about you, but it's the Oreo McFlurry for us.
"It's been incredible to see all the excitement from fans over the past week," Balvin explained. "Not only did I want to bring my personality to the McDonald's menu, I also wanted to share my energy and creativity in a way that elevates our partnership through an exclusive merch collection that we created with my team. Now people can collect a piece of this collaboration and have it forever… lego!”
Balvin is the first Latinx artist to team up with McDonald’s and now only the third to have his own custom meal. In the announcement for his meal, Balvin expressed just how “crazy” it was for him to be following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and Travis Scott. “It’s a blessing, and the fact that I’m Latino, I consider myself a global citizen,” said Balvin. “But I’m from Medellín, Colombia, and this is the first time they’re working with a Latino. It’s a big campaign, so I feel really proud of it.”
