Eddie Vedder joined the 21st Century and created an Instagram account over the weekend, posting a step-by-step image guide to mail-in voting ahead of the November 3 general election.

“Lest there by any confusion, here is how simple, secure and verifiable it is to Vote By Mail,” the Pearl Jam frontman captioned alongside a selfie, holding a voter guide. “These photos were from this July as I voted early in the August primary here in Seattle.”

Vedder continued posting pictures of voter pamphlets, explaining the democratic process in earnest terms. “Fill in the ovals. Come November, the Big Oval,” he wrote, accompanied with a pen and ballot.

Eddie's most profound message came near the end of his political posting storm. He said Pearl Jam has practiced absentee voting for nearly 30 years. “In Pearl Jam we had to request Absentee Ballots going back to 1992 cause we were always away from home touring. Now the state of Washington has been doing across the board Vote by Mail for over a decade.”

He followed this up with a warning to voters who feel their health could be at risk, voting in public and being exposed to the coronavirus. “Please, let’s not be confused by the rhetoric being used by certain folks who apparently want less people to vote."

"Or would rather that you risk your own health and the safety of others when you could be using this tested, tried and true method that’s worked for years.”

Vedder has been active on social media during the COVID quarantine, talking about mental health issues. Last month, he joined Lily Cornell Silver, the daughter of late singer Chris Cornell, on her weekly IGTV series Mind Wide Open to discuss his experiences with mental health issues.
