Things are getting serious with Tame Impala. A few days after the Australian band unveiled the title for their next album, we have a new song and an exact release date.
The song is “It Might Be Time” and it will presumably be included on The Slow Rush, which will be unveiled on February 14, 2020.
A teaser video for Tame Impala’s long-awaited fourth studio LP was released last week and features bandleader Kevin Parker in the studio and the band performing on-stage while snippets of new music play.
Parker admitted the highly-anticipated new album was delayed earlier this year, after releasing the new singles “Borderline” and "Patience.” It’s not clear if those two tracks, which have already been performed on Saturday Night Live, will be on The Slow Rush.
Parker previously told the New York Times that while he’s always eager to release new music, he has to be in the right mindset to make it happen.
“Part of the thing about me starting an album is that I have to feel kind of worthless again to want to make music,” the 33-year-old said. “I reckon a lot of artists get inspired by the idea of singing something to a crowd, many thousands of people,” he said. “But me, I prefer just to think about the kid wearing headphones riding the bus home from school, or having a bedroom headphone listening session. That’s where I come from.”
