Artists are on hold. Bands are separated. Fans are quarantined, and all of them are streaming... something. Welcome to April 2020.
Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus is just one of the many, and he and his son Jack are also big fans of the Nintendo Switch game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. So, during a recent Twitch livestream, Mark hopped on his acoustic guitar to play some songs while Jack hosted and played the game.
"How does 'Apple Shampoo' go again?" Mark asks as he begins to strum away.
You can check out his valiant attempts at the classics “Wasting Time” and “Apple Shampoo” below, as well as his version of his +44 track “Baby Come On.”
Speaking of blink-182 side projects, Hoppus’ other-other band Simple Creatures is currently working on new music while under quarantine. Bandmate Alex Gaskarth recently spoke about their writing process from afar with NME.
"We’re already working on potential quarantine music while we’re all on lockdown. He’s in Idaho – he escaped while he still could – and I’m stuck home in Maryland, so we won’t be doing it in person but we’re sending ideas back and forth and we’re always talking about what the next steps are for Simple Creatures. It’s in the works.”
In the meantime, watch Gaskarth perform a few All Time Low songs and answer fan questions in our recent #FANdemic Instagram Live broadcast, plus get "Home Schooled" by Alex on staying creative and staying connected while practicing proper social distancing.
