This is not a drill. After years of rumors, My Chemical Romance is making a comeback. The band that helped define emo in the first decade of this century has announced an official reunion concert.
The show is scheduled for Friday, December 20th at the Shrine in L.A. No other dates or details about potential new music have been announced.
The stunning development puts a bow on a string of recent cryptic social media posts by the band, which included an illustration of a candle on their new Instagram page. At last check, all old images have been deleted from the page with just the concert announcement remaining. The caption: “Like Phantoms Forever…”
One of the most recent My Chemical Romance reunion rumors came from the Jonas Brothers of all sources. Joe Jonas told a British radio station that the band had been rehearsing next to them in New York earlier this year, but guitarist Frank Iero emphatically dismissed the report while leaving the door open at the same time: “anything is possible,” he said.
Iero, singer Gerard Way and other band members have been focusing on solo careers in the years since their 2013 break-up, but they’re back, and we’re anxiously awaiting what else they might have to tell us.
