Last week The Killers revealed their new single “Caution,” and announced a massive tour across North America. The shows don’t start until August in the US, but tickets were set to go on sale this Friday March 20. However, the band is pushing back that date so people can focus on staying safe as coronavirus concern continues.
“The news is changing every hour around coronavirus,” The Killers shared in a statement. “Ultimately, we want you, our fans, to stay focused on prevention and remaining safe and cautious right now.”
In addition to putting fans first in the chaos of continuous coronavirus closures and updates, the band is planning on giving a portion of ticket income to local organizations at each tour stop, helping those in the service industry who are impacted by coronavirus.
“We are taking this personally,” they continue. “Both we and our families have had these jobs and our hearts go out to those affected.”
In the meantime, frontman Brandon Flowers is doing his part in the fight against coronavirus, giving a special hand-washing performance of “Mr.
Brightside.” After someone made a fake video of the quarantined neighborhood in Italy singing the song, Flowers gave us all the real thing.
The Killers’ sixth studio album, Imploding The Mirage, will be released everywhere on May 29.
