Beyoncé is the gift that keeps on giving.
In addition to her role as Nala in the live-action edition of The Lion King, the singer and actress also leads the way for a special companion album. The Lion King: The Gift is due out on Friday, the same day the film hits theaters.
Tuesday night, Disney’s parent-company ABC aired a special about the upcoming film, featuring the premiere of the video for the lead single, “Spirit”, from Beyoncé. Alongside daughter Blue Ivy Carter and a formation of females, Bey fills settings from the film with the soaring song.
Beyoncé is the Executive Producer for the 14 song project, which also features Kendrick Lamar, husband JAY-Z, co-star Donald Glover appearing as Childish Gambino, Pharrell, and a special appearance from her daughter Blue Ivy.
"This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa,” Beyoncé tells ABC NEWS. “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa."
The Lion King and The Lion King: The Gift both arrive on Friday July 19th.
