Here's How Elton John Is Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of His American Debut

August 25th marks 50 years since the U.S. debut of Elton John and his high-flying piano acrobatics at Los Angeles' Troubadour in front of a veritable who's-who of celebrities and industry insiders, on the very same date in 1970.

To celebrate, the "Rocketman" will be dropping a new, purple deluxe gatefold double-LP vinyl version of his debut record exclusively for Record Store Day 2020 beginning on August 29, featuring bonus tracks and unreleased demos.

For the true collector, a limited edition gatefold, gold, 180-gram vinyl version of the record will also be available beginning August 30, minus all of the extras.

Aside from the special reissues, Elton is also celebrating the success of his memoir, 'Me,' with a new paperback edition featuring an extra chapter. In a post on Facebook, Elton said writing the tome was "a huge highlight of my career, and I was so moved by the response from friends, critics and you - my fans - that I wanted to do something special... I’ve added a new chapter bringing it completely up to date. There may be some tantrums and drama, but it’s what you would expect from me! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed retelling my life."
