It’s a collaboration that may be confusing on the surface, but for a group that’s known to surprise and thrive in spontaneity, it makes perfect sense.
The Grateful Dead teamed up with Nike to create a brand new sneaker inspired by the band’s iconic dancing bear logo. The shoes are now available and come in three different colors: a limited-release green, orange, and yellow.
Officially called the Grateful Dead x Nike SB Dunk Low, the shoes are priced at $110. The low cut is designed like a skateboarding shoe influenced by the West Coast that the Grateful Dead called home.
The shoe features the dancing bear logo on the tongue with the band’s “Steal Your Face” skull logo printed on the underside. The Nike Swoosh logo has an edged outline that mimics the bear’s collar. Additional, faux-fur and suede can be found on other areas of the shoe.
The green shoes will be available at select skate shops on July 24. The yellow release will be available on July 24 as well at select skate shops and on Nike’s SNKRS app. The orange release was made available on July 18.
Recently, the Grateful Dead partnered with North Coast Organics to release their very own line of deodorant. Coming in five different scents, the deodorant is made with vegan, edible ingredients.
You can purchase five different scents: Skull & Roses (lavender and rose), Sunshine (blood orange and bergamot), Workingman’s (cedarwood and juniper), Timber (douglas fir and sage), and Unscented. Each deodorant is handmade in small batches, ensuring freshness and attention to detail.
If news about the Grateful Dead's shoe release has you in the mood for their music, you're in luck.
