Kelsea Ballerini will walk into the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards in a pair of gleaming red shoes. “They’re like red sequin cowboy boots,” she glowed to RADIO.COM’s Steve Grunwald. “They’re bad-A!”
The Female Artist of the Year nominee will be performing her new single "Hole in the Bottle" Wednesday September 16, live from Nashville. Kelsea had to adopt a different mindset heading into this year’s show, due to COVID-19 safety protocols.
“One thing that’s come out of this year is no rules,” she said. “Everything is just not going to planned. Having two albums out living in two different worlds has been really fun to work on. It’s stuff that probably wouldn’t have happened if this year would have gone as planned. It’s a good little silver lining.”
The 27-year-old Country sensation has been working hard during the COVID quarantine. She released kelsea back in March. Six months later, she stripped down the tracks and released the raw album, balllerini. She says performing at the ACM’s is a gift. “Getting to perform, that’s the award for me. Getting three minutes on a show like the ACMs to show what I’ve been working on is a gift.”
Ballerini has also made time to reconnect with fellow Country singers during the coronavirus quarantine. “Me and Maren [Morris] try to get together and catch up every year. It’s very hard because we’re both very busy, but my husband and I got to go hang out with her and Ryan and meet their beautiful boy.”
