Brett Young is not dreaming of a white Christmas.
“I had a little different Christmas experience growing up in Southern California,” the 38-year-old said in an exclusive interview with RADIO.COM.
Despite not partaking in the joys of a winter wonderland, the “Here Tonight” singer still has very warm memories of his childhood holidays.
“We got 75 - 85 degrees some Christmases,” the country crooner disclosed. “So we were a little bit fortunate that the football or baseball and baseball mitt that we got in December we could then walk outside and use right away.”
Although he didn’t have the traditional Yuletide with the likes of Frosty the Snowman, Young’s Christmases were still quite enviable.
“We weren’t sledding, we weren’t in the mountains, we weren’t in the snow,” he added. “We were more likely at the beach, but that’s what Christmas was to me and that’s how I remember it.”
This year, the weather will not be what makes the holidays special for the new father.
“The thing I’m most excited about this Christmas is getting to share it with our little baby girl,” he said of two-month-old daughter, Presley Elizabeth.
In October, Young and wife Taylor welcomed their first child, and the country crooner was right there for their bundle of joy’s arrival.
"I watched," he said at Stars and Strings in Detroit. "I'm actually so glad I did. I never experienced anything like it."
Young will be cherishing every minute of his first Christmas with his daughter as he’s readying to hit the road next month.
The ACM award winner will launch his The Chapters Tour in Knoxville on January 30th.
