Dreams do come true, for Carrie Underwood. After years of being a fan and hoping to collaborate with Guns N’ Roses, the “Cry Pretty” singer made a stop to see Axl Rose and company before heading home to Nashville. After wrapping up her tour, Underwood found her way to Las Vegas to see the band perform, and it’s a night she’ll never forget.
“We were nowhere near Las Vegas, so naturally I said, 'Let's go to Las Vegas with the band and go see GNR play'" she explained to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Friday night. "It's kind of a life-long dream of mine I never thought would happen. Couldn't waste that opportunity, so I abandoned my husband, abandoned my children, went to Vegas, and saw Guns N' Roses.”
“Amazing!” she exclaimed.
Instead of opting for the VIP luxury box with the private bathroom, Carrie joined the crowd, diving straight in with the “Welcome To The Jungle” band. “Because we were in Vegas, we were just in there with everyone else, it was absolutely incredible. You could feel everybody, everybody was screaming, I was screaming. I was like, 'I'm never gonna see none of these people ever again, I'm gonna act like a fool!' – and it was amazing."
Afterwards, Underwood got to meet Axl Rose, telling Jimmy it was better than she imagined.
"I do always say that it's hard when you meet your heroes, because I do consider him to be somebody who taught me how to sing, because I loved how he could just do different things with his voice,” Carrie continued. “I was like, 'I don't know, If I meet him, and he's not everything I want him to be.' But he was. It was great. He was super cool, and nice, and we talked. We're best friends."
Carrie Underwood was on the show to talk about her new book, Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life, now available everywhere.
