Trisha Yearwood stopped by Kelly Clarkson’s new television show on Monday, and talked about the fun they’ve had recording together and even made some shrimp quesadillas. Clarkson most recently appears on Yearwood’s new album, Every Girl, but the pair go back years.
Clarkson first recorded with Yearwood in 2014, for Trisha’s greatest hits album, Prizefighter. As Kelly explains, it’s the most nervous she had ever been.
“I got there, and I had no idea that her husband was gonna be like, producing it,” she gasped and laughed, referring to Country icon Garth Brooks. “I got in the studio, and I’ll tell you, I’ve never been more nervous about sounding good. Because I was like, you’re there already, that was nerve-racking enough, and then your husband, who’s you know, Garth freaking Brooks.”
“He was producing me. I was peeing my pants.”
The Country couple may have been intimidating for the American Idol alum, but according to Yearwood, Brooks was there because he really wanted to work with Kelly himself. ““He was trolling my session to try to get you to work with him. That’s totally what he was doing,” laughed Yearwood.

Even though Garth crashed the session, he generally stays away from crashing Trisha’s girls nights.
“He’s a little afraid of that many women together so he really doesn’t,” Yearwood explained. “If he’s around he’ll open the wine, but he really wants to be gone. I think it scares him a little bit, as it should,” she joked.
Trisha has made a name for herself as a great cook as well, but she’s not the only one that uses their kitchen. “He doesn’t follow a recipe, he’ll throw things together that maybe go together and then he thinks it’s fabulous and takes a picture of it. I call him Gartha Stewart,” she added as Kelly erupted in laughter.
We’ll never get over ‘Gartha Stewart.’
