Country’s very own chart-topper, Jimmie Allen, is on a new mission with his freshly penned children’s book, which is all about the power of using your voice to speak out.

Allen, who is a dad of two and the first Black country artist to find himself with two No.1 hits on Country radio at the start of his career, is now launching My Voice Is a Trumpet with publisher, Flamingo Books on July 13, 2021.

In a statement to People Magazine Jimmie shared, “I think back on all the great people in my life, from my parents to my teachers, and the wonderful influence they had on me. I wanted to write a book that would help my kids and other children when they read it.” Allen also adds, "I've learned that writing a book and songwriting have a lot in common — it's all about the honesty and connection with the audience. I wrote about what I would want to read as a kid, and things I learned that helped me.”

Throughout his musical career, Allen has discussed racial justice and his own experiences as a Black Country artist. The new book aims to teach children how to use their voices to speak up about matters that they find important.

"It's very important to me that kids learn at a young age that they have a voice and that it is powerful. It is up to us as adults to teach them to use their voice to encourage and show love,” explains Jimmie. Plus he says, “Being a father of two kids, I try to encourage them to be themselves and love everyone around them. I'm hoping this book inspires at least one child and they always remember their voice is a trumpet.”

The children’s book will represent a diverse group of voices and reads, "from voices that roar like a lion, to voices small as a bee.” My Voice Is a Trumpet serves as a tool and a sweet but powerful reminder that kids can learn to stand up for what they care about at a very early age.
