Jennie Garth is reflecting on her marriage to Dave Abrams after reconciling, following a tumultuous few years which saw the couple separate and file for divorce.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star met Abrams on a blind date in 2014 and within months, the two were engaged and walking down the aisle. She soon found the whirlwind romance had its problems.
“We rushed it too much, and we had individual things we needed to work out.,” the 47-year-old told People. “Maybe it was a mistake [to move so fast] and we’ve all had to learn and grow from that.”
Despite their issues, the actress was completely caught off-guard when Abrams filed for divorce less than three years after tying the knot.
“I found out that he filed for divorce from TMZ,” she said shockingly.
The hurt ran deep for Garth especially after two previous failed marriages to Daniel Clark and “Twilight" star Peter Facinelli.
“The [possibility of a third divorce] really devastated me,” the 90s TV icon disclosed. “I was in a really bad mindset for a good five or six months. It was just embarrassing.”
Strangely enough, just as she started to accept the marriage was over, the pair “started to hang out again.”
Garth and Abrams have now been back together for six months and recently celebrated their fourth anniversary. Although they continue to work on their marriage, she says they’re "constantly wanting to better the relationship."
She added, “We definitely had to part ways completely. We needed that time to grow.”
Garth even found a silver lining from the hardship by having her TV character on “BH90210” get blindsided when her husband files for divorce.
"That was a big deal for me," she revealed. "So we used it in the show, because why not use the things that hurt us most and then take the power out of them and make them funny."
