Alex Trebek stepped out with his wife and son for a trip to Home Depot and rocked a bedazzled hard hat in the process.
The "Jeopardy!" host, who was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year, was spotted at the Los Angeles store sporting a gold hard hat with his name, Alex, written in jewels across the brim.
His wife, Jean Trebek, was seen at his side wearing a similarly bedazzled hard hat of her own, complete with stars and glitter. Both were wearing their face masks to protect themselves and others against coronavirus.
The couple's son, Matthew Trebek, also joined them for the outing. The couple is additionally parents to 27-year-old Emily Trebek.
This past March, Trebek posted a video celebrating one year since his cancer diagnosis. He noted that despite an 18% one-year survival rate for patients with conditions like his, he has passed the milestone.
"I am very happy to report that I have just reached that marker," Trebek said.
Still, the "Jeopardy!" host admitted that the journey has not been an easy one, and he has dealt with bouts of mental health issues through cancer treatment.
"Sudden massive attackes of great depressions that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting for," he explained.
He continued, "But I brushed that aside quickly, because that would have been a massive betrayal - a betrayal of my wife and soulmate Jean, who has helped me survive. A betrayal of other cancer patients who have looked to me as an inspiration, and a cheerleader fo sorts in the value of living and hope."
