Alex Trebek’s three kids are sharing their sweet memories of their loving dad.
In a post on Insidewink, the “Jeopardy” host’s wife, Jean, asked Matthew, Emily and Nicky Trebek to open about their relationship with their famous father.
"It feels to me like our little family was meant to be…the stars all were aligned to bring together such unique personalities which deeply support and respect each other," Jean wrote. "What’s interesting for me to witness, is that they each have had their own unique experiences with Alex and that really reflects back different perspectives on the man I married."
Matthew, Trebek's son with Jean, disclosed how he is most like his dad.
“We both tend to be discerning when it comes to sharing our feelings and I think we’re both very capable in taking care of most household repairs,” the restaurateur said.
While Emily, who is Trebek’s daughter with Jean, admitted she shares her dad’s “Type-A” personality. “I think I got a lot of my organizational, financial and perfectionistic traits from him,” the home designer added. “He also has always been into construction so I think that rubbed off on me too.”
Nicky, Trebek’s daughter from his first marriage, also shares the 79-year-old’s drive.
“I have a similar passion for organization in my household,” she confessed. “Dad is extremely into cleanliness and organization.”
As far as the personality trait they most admire in Trebek, Matthew praised his father’s “persistence.” Emily pointed out his “determination” and noted “when he has his mind set on something, nothing will change it!”
While Nicky highlighted her dad’s “generosity” and “humility,” especially while currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
“I personally experienced him writing hundreds of thousands of thank you notes while he battled for his life. It’s truly astounding,” she said. “I honestly can’t even put it into words.”
While Trebek has kept fans abreast on his health since being diagnosed in 2019, the TV icon is set to reveal more details of his life in an upcoming memoir.
Entitled “The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life,” the book is due out on July 21st, the day before his 80th birthday.
In March, Trebek shared a health update on the one-year anniversary of his cancer diagnosis.
"My oncologist tried to cheer me up the other day ... He was certain that one year from now, the two of us would be sitting in his office celebrating my second anniversary of survival," he said in a video. "If we take it just one day at a time, with a positive attitude, anything is possible."
