After topping the list last year, the “Avengers” star is once again the highest-paid actress of 2019.
Johansson comes in at #1 on Forbes’ list of top female earners after taking in $56 million from June 1st, 2018 to June 1st, 2019.
And with today being Women’s Equality Day, celebrating the passage of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote, it should be noted that the top 10 actresses on the list earned a cumulative total of $314.6 million, which is 69% more than last year’s combined amount.
1 Scarlett Johansson
Johansson’s massive $56 million tally comes after scoring $35 million for her role in “Avengers: Endgame” as well as an alleged eight-figure payout for the upcoming “Black Widow” standalone film.
2 Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara continues to laugh all the way to the bank as the “Modern Family” is second with $44.1 million. Interestingly, Vergara held the top spot for seven years before Johansson took over last year.
3 Reese Witherspoon
In third is Reese Witherspoon with $35 million. In addition, to her role on “Big Little Lies”, Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine continues to create high-profile shows for various networks and streaming platforms.
4 Nicole Kidman
Fellow Oscar winner and “Big Little Lies co-star Nicole Kidman is close behind in fourth place with $34 million. Kidman had a busy year starring in critically-acclaimed roles in “Boy Erased” and “Destroyer” as well as stepping into the DC Extended Universe as Atlanna, the mother of “Aquaman.”
5 Jennifer Aniston
Closing out the top 5 is Jennifer Aniston with $28 million. The former “Friends” star has had a lucrative relationship with Netflix, appearing in three films for the streaming platform, “Dumplin”, “Murder Mystery” and the upcoming “First Ladies.”
6 Kaley Cuoco
“Big Bang Theory”s leading lady, Kaley Cuoco, lands in the sixth spot by finishing off the CBS show’s successful 12-season run with $25 million.
7 Elisabeth Moss
Blessed be the paycheck for Elisabeth Moss as “The Handmaid’s Tale” star is seventh with $24 million. Besides her Emmy-winning turn in the dystopian Hulu series, Moss appeared on the big screen in Jordan Peele’s “Us” and alongside Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish in “The Kitchen.”
8 Margot Robbie
“Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” star Margot Robbie takes 8th with $23.5 million. The Australian actress is set to continue her success returning as Harley Quinn in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” sequel.
9 Charlize Theron
With her villainous turn as Cipher in next year’s “Fast & Furious” sequel, Charlize Theron – who will also co-star with Robbie and Kidman on the upcoming film “Bombshell” - races into 9th place with $23 million.
10 Ellen Pompeo
And with 15 seasons on “Grey’s Anatomy,” Ellen Pompeo closes out the list in the 10 spot with $23 million.
