Henry Winkler is denying that any beef exists between him and Tom Hanks despite his own words.
TMZ caught up with Winkler on Tuesday and had a few questions about the rumored tensions between him and Hanks. “Henry, what’s it gonna take to resolve this feud with Tom Hanks?” the reporter asked.
“I don’t have a feud with Tom Hanks,” he starts. The TMZ reporter chimes in, “But everyone says…” Winkler cuts him off with, “I know but it doesn’t matter because what everyone says and what is true are very different things.”
With many questions still unanswered, the reporter then points out that Winkler once hinted at a feud between the two stars on an episode of “Watch What Happens Live.” “Yeah, but you know, that was just fun,” Winkler responds.
During the episode in question, a fan asks Winkler why he didn’t get along with Hanks on the set of “Turner and Hooch.” After recalling the details of his unfortunate firing, Winkler quips, “I got along great, great with that dog,” cheekily referring to the pooch in the film.
The beef rumors continued to swirl after Tom Hanks accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award at the 77th Golden Globes earlier this month. During Hanks’ speech, the camera panned towards a very underwhelmed Winkler, sparking further rumors that their feud lives on.
According to Winkler, though, the two have buried the hatchet once and for all.
