Kate Middleton did not live up to a young girl’s idea of what a princess should look like.
While visiting a pier in Wales on Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge met with an adorable three-year-old named Annabelle who was excited to meet a real live princess.
But because the girl is used to seeing royalty as depicted in fairy tales, Kate most likely appeared underdressed by not being decked out in a ball gown and glass slippers.
“I’m really sorry I’m not wearing a pretty dress today,” Kate apologized to little Annabelle, reported the Daily Mail.
“I thought you'd look like Cinderella'', replied Annabelle, who then reportedly still gave Kate a big hug.
“Kate was all smiles and very friendly. Annabel was so taken with her, she went up and gave her a huge hug and I was extremely surprised that Kate embraced her in such a way,” Annabelle’s mother insisted. “I hope in ten years Annabel can look back and realize what an amazing encounter this has been.”
While she may not have resembled a Disney princess, the Duchess still looked impeccable in a double-breasted navy coat and heart print scarf.
Kate was accompanied by husband Prince William as they visited various factories and manufacturing plants in the area.
The pair showed a united front one week after she was spotted without her sapphire and diamond engagement ring while visiting a children’s hospital.
Turns out the reason behind her missing ring was simply due to the hospital’s policy requiring the removal of jewelry during visits. Everyone can breathe!
