Kelly Clarkson really wants Lorelai Gilmore to hit the stage.
The “American Idol” champion thinks Lauren Graham should star in a “Gilmore Girls” musical.
Graham appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” where she was asked about the idea of doing a musical version of the television show that brought her fame as the character of Lorelai Gilmore.
"Just asking for a friend," Clarkson said. The crowd applauded when she said, "I just want to see Luke dancing." Luke, a fan-favorite love interest in "Gilmore Girls," was played by Scott Patterson.
The idea has been circulating around ever since AppleTV+’s “The Morning Show” mentioned it during the show.
“I guess it was a running joke on the show ‘Morning Show’ where they assign one of the reporters to cover ‘Gilmore Girls: The Musical’ and the person is rolling their eyes because it seems silly, but then there’s discussion that, no, it’s a beloved show,” Graham said.
Graham explained that the show was similar to a musical based on the pacing of the script and the way the show is filmed.
“I mean, I always felt that that language and that kind of pace and the tone of the show is very theatrical,” she said.
“I think people would love it,” Clarkson said.
“She loves dance and there’s so much dance always in the show so, but again, as I’ve told you, if you ask me to sing, I’ll just show up, so we can actually put it on Broadway or in your garage,” Graham said. “It doesn’t matter.”
Although the show has ended, "Gilmore Girls" fans can still watch the series on Netflix.
