Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting backlash for their most recent trip.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with adorable three-month-old son Archie, allegedly flew by private jet on a secret trip to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday earlier this month, according to the Daily Mail.
The royal family traveled with their security team on August 6th and stayed in a private villa for six days before returning home on the 12th.
To maintain privacy, Meghan and Harry allegedly hired local escorts familiar with the area to make sure they went unnoticed.
The bone of contention is their decision to fly private despite being staunch environmentalists. Taking a private plane from London to the Spanish island reportedly emits six times more carbon dioxide than flying commercial with the commoners. But does anyone really expect the Duke and Duchess to fly Delta?
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the couple’s excursion.
Regardless, their Mediterranean getaway comes just days after Harry gave a passionate speech on the threats of climate change at the elite Camp Google summit in Sicily.
The Ibiza holiday, as it turns out, was baby Archie’s first family vacation.
The three-month-old will get to use his passport again as he’s expected to join his parents on their royal tour of Africa in the fall.
The whole family will head to South Africa together, before Harry then departs for Angola, Malawi, and Botswana.
