The Duchess of Sussex has a brand new title: World’s Most Powerful Dresser.
Meghan Markle’s exquisite style has been recognized for its global influence and has managed to overtake last year’s winner Kylie Jenner, reported Harper’s Bazaar.
Global fashion search engine Lyst analyzed data from the year and factored in sales, page views, media coverage and social media mentions to come up with the list of biggest trends and style icons.
"Meghan Markle was the most powerful dresser of 2019 and her outfits sparked, on average, a 216% increase in searches for similar pieces," the company said in a statement.
After Meghan donned five shirt dresses while on the royal tour of Africa, searches rose by 45%.
The Club Monaco dress she wore to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu wound up selling out in 24 hours after after searches surged by 570%, while a J Crew skirt saw a 102% increase in online traffic for the brand.
It was a stellar style year for the new mother who rose to the top of the rankings after being seventh last year. Interestingly, her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, fell out of the top ten after being a mainstay on the list for the last few years.
Coming in right behind Meghan in second place was the most powerful male dresser on the list, “The King” star Timothée Chalemet.
“Euphoria” actress Zendaya, multiple GRAMMY-nominee Billie Eilish and rap diva Cardi B round out the top five.
In a rare stumble for Kylie Jenner, the reality star went from holding down the top style spot in 2018 to being seventh this year.
‘Truth Hurts” singer and GRAMMY nominee Lizzo, former One Direction member Harry Styles and “Pose” star Billy Porter close out the top ten.
