Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have had their own fairytale wedding, but on Thursday night, they scored front-row seats to a sweet proposal.
The couple attended the 2020 Endeavour Fund Award at the Mansion House as part of their farewell tour. It was one of their final appearances in London before stepping down from royal duties.
As the couple celebrated the philanthropy and achievements of wounded, sick, and injured military veterans and service personnel, the night took a romantic turn as a surprise proposal drew cheers and “awws” from the crowd including the Sussexes.
Danny Holland, a military vet who the Recognizing Achievement Award, proposed to his girlfriend, according to E! News.
Footage captured and shared on social media by Chris Ship revealed Meghan’s glowing smile as she clapped and placed her hands over her heart following the proposal.
Prince Harry also got emotional as he cheered for the newly engaged couple.
The Endeavor Fund shared the good news on Twitter writing, "She said yes!! A second enormous congratulations to Danny on his engagement! What an amazing proposal, and what a way to kick off the #EndeavourFundAwards!"
A little later in the evening, Prince Harry gave a speech thanking everyone for their support and for being able to be part of such a special event.
"Meghan and I are so happy to be back here with all of you and celebrate your achievements, your service, your resilience and that of your families too. You should all be tremendously proud of what you've achieved and the positive service you continue to provide to so many."
Prince Harry added, "A lot of you tonight have told me you have my back, well I'm also here to tell you, I've always got yours.”
The speech comes following the news that Prince Harry and Meghan will be stepping down from royal duties.
The couple will officially step down from their royal duties on March 31st.
