Ryan Reynolds, a British Columbia resident, is asking young Canadians to stop partying amid the coronavirus pandemic out of fear for others - in particular, his mother.

The PSA came after B.C. Premier John Horgan released his own message to Twitter asking Deadpool to swoop in and save the day. "Ryan, we need your help up here. Get in touch with us," Horgan said.

Reynolds responded with his own audio recording, saying, "I'm not sure it's a great idea, frankly. I don't think they want medical advice from guys like me, no sir. Unless it's plastic surgery, which - a lot of people don't know this - but I used to be Hugh Jackman."

The humorous voice memo went on to outline some of Reynolds' concerns with the "young folks in B.C." "They're partying, which is of course dangersous," he said.

"They probably don't know that thousands of young people aren't just getting sick from coronavirus, they're also dying from it too," Reynolds explained.

"It's terrible that it affects our most vulnerable. B.C., that's home to some of the coolest older people on Earth," he said, listing a series of older generation members who he considers cool like his own mother and environmental activist David Suzuki.

He goes on to talk more in-depth about his mother, saying she doesn't want to be "cooped up in her apartment all day" and "she wants to be out there cruising Kitsilano Beach looking for some young 30-something Abercrombie burnout to go full Mrs. Robinson on."

"I hope young people in B.C. don't kill my mom frankly. Or David Suzuki. Or each other," he adds.

He then finishes off with a reference to his wife, Blake Lively. "I love parties. My favorite thing to do is sit along in my room with a glass of gin and the first 32 seasons of 'Gossip Girl.' That's a party," he explains.

Horgan also enlisted the help of Vancouver native Seth Rogen, who later tweeted back at him saying, "Just slid into your DMs!"
