That’s a wrap! “Modern Family” is gearing up for its final bow.
As the cast and crew filmed the series finale on Friday, February 20, they shared the emotional and bittersweet goodbyes on social media with fans.
The show’s co-creator, Steve Levitan, posted a video of the entire cast and crew waving goodbye.
“Today is our last day shooting #modernfamily,” he captioned the clip. “These are just some of the wonderful people who’ve made the last 11 seasons possible. I love them all. 😢.”
Sofia Vergara, who played the beloved Gloria Delgado for 11 seasons, uploaded a video of herself, Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy), Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchitt) singing Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” and holding back tears following their final scene.
“What a day!! Saying goodbye to our Modern Family❤️❤️❤️,” she captioned the clip.
She shouted out her real family for being there as she said goodbye to her TV family.
She also shared behind-the-scenes photos of everyone goofing off together one last time.
Vergara wasn’t the only one emotional as her husband and “True Blood” alum, Joe Manganiello, also shared positive comments congratulating the cast on their massive accomplishment.
“CONGRATULATIONS Modern Family on 11 years of groundbreaking television,” he wrote underneath a photo of the cast taking a selfie in the Dunphy house. “There may never be another show with a run like this and a cast this talented. You will be missed.”
Manganiello added, “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Gloria…”
The remainder of the cast shared similar messages on Instagram.
Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker) shared a poetic photo of himself looking at the “exit” sign and wrote, “I guess I’ll see myself out now stage 5. 11 years walking in and out of this door went by in a flash. #modernfamily.”
In addition, he shared the drone footage of the whole cast and crew waving set to “Last Goodbye” by Jeff Buckley and "My Silver Lining" by First Aid Kit.
Jeremy Maguire (Joe Prichett) added several behind-the-scenes shots of him cozying up to his cast members.
“Today is the last day of filming Modern Family,” the adorable 8-year-old wrote standing next to his reserved parking space.
“I will be brave and smile even though my heart is crying 😢 #modernfamily.”
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily Tucket-Prichett) assured him that despite the show’s end, they would all remain important parts of each other’s lives.
“This isn’t the end. We can stay friends forever ❤️,” she commented.
The ABC series premiered in 2009 and was welcomed with open arms. It won five Emmys.
