Stephen Colbert wants everybody to know that he wants to be the next Duke of Sussex!
The "Late Show" host discussed the weekend news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were officially stripped of their royal titles and duties, pondering if there could be a spot for him in the "new opening" for Duke of Sussex.
“Maybe a Megxit means a Colb-entrance,” he said, before turning to the camera. “I’m a fast learner, I’m highly motivated, I can wave backwards, and I’ve never met Jeffrey Epstein,” Colbert joked.
While Prince Harry is giving up the title of His Royal Highness, he will still continue to be the Duke of Sussex going forward. So Colbert may have to give up this dream.
Over the weekend, Prince Harry spoke out for the first time following an announcement from Buckingham Palace which declared that he and his wife Meghan Markle are no longer working members of the royal family.
In the speech, the Duke of Sussex expressed “great sadness” at the decision, which was released to the public with a statement from Queen Elizabeth.
Earlier this month, the royal couple announced their decision to take a step back from their royal duties in order to focus on their family and transition into a “progressive new role” within the institution.
