Barack Obama gave us a peek behind the creative curtain, posting an eclectic 2020 Summer Playlist to social media, showing the 44th President’s unique style.
“Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer — including songs from some of the artists at this week’s @DemConvention,” he said. “Hope you enjoy it.” Obama featured a plethora of popular artists including Leon Bridges, Childish Gambino, Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion, and Billie Eilish. Classic performers like Otis Redding, John Coltrane and Billie Holiday rounded out his summer mix.
Many of the artist are set to perform during this week’s Democratic National Convention, including Common, and Jennifer Hudson. “As always, it's a mix of genres that travels through various eras,” the former President said on Instagram. He suspects there’s “something in here for everybody.” Obama is expected to speak during the DNC, Wednesday.
One of the artists to make Obama’s list was quick to respond on Twitter. John Legend recognized POTUS’ great taste in music and simply wrote “Thank you, Mr. President.”
Just because Obama has been out of the White House the last four years, doesn’t mean he’s slowed down. The former President Former recently hosted a virtual town hall to discuss the death of George Floyd and encourage Americans to make a “real change” following a wave of protests that has swept the nation in response.
