After his July 4th announcement about running for President in 2020, Kanye West is seeing his first national polling numbers. Although the rapper implied that “God’s will” would lead him to the oval office this election year, the Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll suggests otherwise.
The poll surveyed 2,000 U.S. registered voters on July 9. It was found that 2% of the survey takers would actually cast their vote for Mr. West.
Many Democrats have feared that since Kanye has thrown his hat into the ring we’d see Joe Biden’s vote split, and Biden would lose the votes of young and Black Americans. However, the recent poll demonstrated an unexpected outcome where Biden continued to poll at 48%. With Kanye in the race, Donald Trump’s polling percentage falls from 40% to 39%.
Yeezy has already missed the filing deadline in many key election states, which means voters would have to write his name in on the ballot. However, with all the concerns and speculations expressed about Kanye’s presidential campaign, Chance The Rapper is still in support of West’s run.
