Introducing Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty.
Nicki Minaj has added a husband and a last name to her life, revealing in an Instagram post that she has married Kenneth Petty. The camera pans across the table, showing off the couple’s Mr. and Mrs. mugs and Bride and Groom hats, with a string of wedding emojis and the date 10.21.19 featured in the caption.
Petty and Minaj have known each other since their teens, but reconnected and began dating last year. In June, Petty appeared with Minaj in the artist’s video for “MEGATRON.”
Fans were first tipped off to the possible nuptials in late July, when the pair were spotted at the Beverly Hills Court House getting the paperwork at the marriage license bureau window. California law states that the ceremony must take place within 90 days of obtaining the license, otherwise it expires.

During her verse on Chance The Rapper’s “Zanies and Fools”, Minaj also alluded to a potential wedding in the near future. “I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens. If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means” she raps on The Big Day’s closing song. “My n**** home now, he the Clyde to my Bonnie. 'Bout to walk down the aisle and be a mommy.”
Step one appears to be accomplished, and now the internet anxiously awaits step two. Minaj is also reportedly working on her album, the follow-up to 2018’s Queen.
