With assistance from Doja Cat, Saweetie has returned, dropping her first single of 2021, “Best Friend.”

As to be expected these days, the track debuted along with a video that has us vying to be part of this provocative duo’s clique of two. Throughout the Dave Meyers-directed video, the inseparable Saweetie and Doja take turns trading versers, while not so casually slaying every look, served to us on a diamond incrusted silver platter.
Speaking of diamonds, from pool side chillin, to the strip club, shopping for handbags and back home for a slumber party, these ladies traveled in style, and by style we mean a bedazzled Tesla, duh.
More than just a bougie bop, the visual, which also starts King Bach, calls out misogyny and celebrates camaraderie. Before the ladies take turns hyping each other up with each verse, they first brush off “another fake woke misogynist” hitting on them. Ladies, you know the vibes.
“B****, please, that kind of crass virtue-signaling is nothing but a less overtly nefarious form of toxic masculinity,” Saweetie reads Doja Cat’s thoughts.
While Sweetie handles the hook, “That’s my best friend, she a real bad b**** / Drive her own car, she don’t need no Lyft.” Doja lays down her own best friend boasting bars, “I ain't dumb, but motherf*****, she my Tweedledee/ If she ride for me, she don’t need a key.”
“Best Friend” follows Saweetie’s previous hits“Tap In” and “Back to the Streets.” The new track serves as a prelude to the her forthcoming debut album Pretty B**** Music, which should arrive at some point this year.
