From skyscrapers to strip clubs, in smoke clouds and combat, Travis Scott takes a journey through “Highest In The Room.” The song and video are the rapper’s first of a new era, following up on his GRAMMY-nominated album ASTROWORLD.
Directed by visionary Dave Myers, Travis Scott trips through shots of androids and apathy, gliding from scene to scene in a fantasy film that finds him being held captive, fighting futuristic figures, and having someone tattoo a sparking lifeforce into him. It’s wild, and another big, bold clip from the artist.
“Highest In The Room” is being positioned as the first taste of Scott’s upcoming fourth album, following the ambitious and acclaimed ASTROWORLD. It also comes with a Postmates promotion from the rapper, with the company introducing the Travis Scott Collection. Fans in Los Angeles and Scott’s native Houston, can order from his personal favorite restaurants when they are “the hungriest in the room.” Get it? “Highest” probably works too. Selections include menus curated by Travis from Jamba Juice, Shake Shack, and Chipotle.
In an interview with Apple Music this week, Scott explained that the album will come in time. “I’m just trying to cook up some dope s*** and drop ‘Highest in the Room,’ and maybe put something around it,” he explained to Zane Lowe. “I’m in no rush frankly, but I’m taking my time to come up with the next album, but I’m always down to drop music and serve some packs to the fans. It’s time for the fans to eat.”
The song and the promotion come while Scott is in the midst of some personal news, reportedly “taking a break” from his relationship with Kylie Jenner. Together the couple has a 1-year-old daughter, Stormi, but they have reportedly been separate for the past few weeks. They last appeared together in public for the premiere of Scott’s Netflix documentary, Look Mom I Can Fly on August 28.
“Highest In The Room” is now available everywhere.
