Quite possibly the only person that could tear Meghan Markle away from her newborn son Archie is Serena Williams.
The Duchess of Sussex made a last-minute solo trip to New York on Friday in order to be able to watch her good friend play in the US Open final on Saturday, according to People.
This is the 38-year-old’s first trip without her baby boy since his birth in May.
It will be a quick excursion as Markle is expected fly back to Britain on Sunday as she readies for her upcoming royal tour of Africa with Prince Harry.
On Saturday, Williams will face off against 19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The former “Suits” actress is hoping to watch Williams not only win, but make history by tying Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles.
Friends since 2010, Markle and Williams have grown very close over the years with the tennis icon and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, attending the royal wedding in 2018.
Markle previously watched Williams play at Wimbledon in July.
It was during one of the matches that the Duchess suffered backlash after some spectators were allegedly told by her security not to snap any photos.
But in the end, it appears her escorts were just following royal protocol.
No doubt security will be extra tight on Saturday with a member of the royal family in the stands.
